It’s a lot easier to just pick something up from the prepared food at the supermarket, or stop at a fast food place on the way home. However, easy and convenient isn’t always good or healthy. There are some prepared foods that are actually relatively good for you, but most of them are full of fat and salt and preservatives. Instead of buying those kinds of things to feed your family – and especially young children – it’s better to get something that’s much more healthy. This kind of food will require more preparation, but it’s well worth the time and effort.
If you’re concerned about being able to make the food that you’ll need for dinner, take a day when you have more time and prepare a lot of things. Freeze them all in small containers, and pull the frozen container out and into the refrigerator in the morning on the day you play to have it for dinner. When you get home from work, it will be partially thawed and you can just microwave it. It’s still fast, but it’s much better food than what you can pick up through the drive-thru. That doesn’t mean your family can never have fast food, but just that it shouldn’t be the norm.
Making food and freezing it is a great way for you to have more time, and it doesn’t require a lot of work if you do it the right way. You can also put something into the crock pot and let it cook all day while you’re at work. When you get home the house will smell great and dinner will be ready, without needing to take the time to do a lot of prep. It’s so easy and convenient that you can cook for your family much more often.
